Chest X-Ray Predictive Model
The Discovery Partners Institute (DPI) aims to build a stronger applied research presence throughout Illinois via a conjoint effort between the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), DuPage Medical Group (DMG), and UI Health (UIH). This conjoint effort has led to the development of models that leverage artificial intelligence obtained from chest radiographs (CXRs). These models can be useful in the battle against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and understanding the impact of comorbidities.
Two artificial models will be provided soon:
- For COVID-19, an airspace disease index that correlates with the opacity on frontal CXR. High scores correlate with higher opacities in the lung parenchyma.
- Comorbidity burden evaluated via the risk adjustment score (RAF), where higher scores represent more comorbidity burden.
These models are currently under review and have not yet been published.
