Michael Zenn to Begin New Role Following Tenure as University of Illinois Hospital and Clinics CEO

After eight years in key leadership roles at the University of Illinois Hospital and Clinics, most recently as chief executive officer, Michael Zenn is transitioning to his new role as senior advisor for enterprise strategic initiatives within the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs, effective September 15, 2023. As CEO, Zenn provided outstanding leadership during a key period of growth and expansion at UI Health, which saw implementation of the Epic electronic health record system, launching the Specialty Care Building, opening the new hospital welcome atrium, and initiating the Quality and Safety Transformation.
About the transition, Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs Dr. Robert Barish said, “I value the expertise that Mike has developed over his more than 40-year career in health care administration. Please join me in congratulating Mike on his transition into this new role and in thanking him for his exceptional contributions to UI Health.”
Dr. Mark Rosenblatt, executive dean of the College of Medicine, will serve as interim CEO for the Hospital & Clinics, pending approval of the University of Illinois Board of Trustees.
