UIC’s Roybal Center and OCEAN-HP Promote Healthy Lifestyles for Brain Health
Text of article
The Illinois Department of Public health, working with a variety of community and healthcare stakeholders including UIC’s Midwest Roybal Center for Health Promotion and Translation and the UIC Office of Community Engagement and Neighborhood Health Partnerships, has launched the Illinois Brain Health Project.
The goal of the initiative is to educate the public about modifiable risks and healthy lifestyle practices that promote brain health, best practice strategies to reduce the prevalence of risk factors for cognitive decline, and the importance of recognizing early signs of cognitive decline.
The collaboration also launched an online repository of resources for cognitive wellness. The repository is a rich source of information about staying active, eating well, managing health conditions and sleep to mitigate the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
